Adding Macs to a Windows/Mac Magic Triangle Domain

Changing the share name

Changing the share name is important or else all the Macs will appear in DHCP and OD all as similar names. For example staffmac-xx
1. Go to Systems Preferences
2. Sharing
3. Change the name to proper AD name

Add Mac to Domain

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Users and groups
  3. Unlock
  4. Login options
  5. Join
  6. networkname.local
  7. Ok
  8. Edit
  9. Open directory utility
  10. Unlock
  11. Double click AD
  12. Change Computer ID
  13. Untick force local home directory on startup disk in the user experience tab
  14. Tick allow administration by and add networkname\administrator
  15. Tick prefer this domain server and type adserver.networkname.local
  16. Type Active Directory domain networkname.local
  17. Click bind, type in administrator account without networkname\
  18. Untick use for contact
  19. Lock and lock again
